Fire extinguished in Pissouri and separate incident in Orounta

A brushfire broke out on September 28, 2026, in a residential area situated between Pissouri and Alektora in the Limassol district. The blaze, which ignited at 10:20, affected dry grass, wild vegetation, and trees, prompting a significant emergency response. Firefighting efforts involved five fire engines from the Monovolikos, Pachna, and Kyvides stations, supported by a vehicle from the British Bases and two earthmovers. Authorities successfully contained and brought the fire under control shortly thereafter.

In a separate incident on the same day, a wildfire was reported in the vicinity of Orounta in the Nicosia district. According to the Fire Service, this fire broke out at 17:24 and burned approximately one hectare of land before being controlled by 18:14. Response teams, including volunteers from the Peristerona station and SupportCY groups, identified sparks from Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) power lines as the likely cause of the ignition.
