Audit office to release school air conditioning report and 20 further investigations

Cyprus Auditor General Andreas Papakonstantinou announced on September 28, 2026, that a special report regarding the installation of air conditioning units in public schools will be released tomorrow. This report is part of a broader audit initiative, as the Audit Office is currently finalizing 20 additional reports expected to be published in the coming period. These upcoming audits will cover significant public interest areas, including developments in the Akamas peninsula, the administration of the Guaranteed Minimum Income scheme, the Planning Exceptions Board, and the operations of KEDIPES (Cyprus Asset Management Company).

Papakonstantinou emphasized that the Audit Office is utilizing modern technological tools to identify weaknesses, administrative errors, and potential legal irregularities. By documenting these findings, the agency aims to exert pressure on relevant state authorities to improve the rule of law and ensure greater accountability in public governance.
