Lidl Cyprus and AKTI continue the Project Zero environmental initiative

Lidl Cyprus and the AKTI Research and Studies Centre have announced the continuation of their 'Project Zero' environmental initiative for the 2026-2027 academic year. This collaboration, which first began in 2021, aims to educate younger generations about the critical state of marine pollution through a combination of theoretical presentations and hands-on practical activities.

The project incorporates various educational visits to schools, experiential workshops, and organized coastal cleanups. A significant expansion for the upcoming academic year includes the introduction of the program into the higher education sector, allowing university students to engage directly with environmental conservation efforts. The primary objective is to move beyond simple information dissemination, encouraging students to take an active role in protecting the marine ecosystem.

Since its inception five years ago, the program has successfully reached and raised awareness among 62,355 participants. By connecting classroom learning with direct environmental action on beaches, the initiative seeks to foster a lasting commitment to sustainability among the youth in Cyprus.
