Jurgen Klopp records worst start as Germany national team manager

Jurgen Klopp has experienced a difficult start to his tenure as the manager of the German national football team, becoming the first coach in the country's history to earn only one point in his opening two matches. The 59-year-old manager debuted with a 1-0 home loss to Greece in Augsburg, followed by a 1-1 draw against the Netherlands in Amsterdam. This performance marks the poorest start for any German national coach, with Klopp becoming only the third manager in history, alongside Sepp Herberger and Helmut Schon, to fail to win either of his first two games.

The defeat against Greece, currently ranked 41st internationally, drew significant criticism from the German press, including the newspaper Bild, which highlighted the unexpected result despite Klopp's prior warnings against underestimating the opponent. While Herberger and Schon similarly struggled at the beginning of their respective careers, both eventually achieved significant international success, including winning the World Cup.
