Petroleum sales declined in August 2026

Total petroleum sales in August 2026 reached 121,646 tons, marking a 1.4% decrease compared to August 2025. Data released by the Statistical Service indicates varying performance across sectors, with significant declines in asphalt sales (-23.9%), heating oil (-9.2%), and aviation fuel supplies (-6.1%). Conversely, marine fuel supplies rose by 3.1%, and sales of LPG, light fuel oil, and gasoline increased by 8.6%, 4.9%, and 1.5% respectively. Sales specifically from retail gas stations showed a marginal increase of 0.2%, totaling 54,704 tons.

On a monthly basis, total petroleum sales dropped by 15.3% in August 2026 compared to July 2026. This monthly contraction was driven by sharp declines in diesel sales (-25.5%) and gasoline (-12.7%). Meanwhile, marine fuel supplies grew by 3.3%, while aviation fuel supplies remained nearly stable with a minor decline of 0.4%. Additionally, total petroleum stocks at the end of August 2026 increased by 21.2% compared to the end of the previous month.
