Financial Wellbeing Institute and University of Nicosia launch five-year partnership
On September 28, 2026, the Financial Wellbeing Institute (FWI) and the University of Nicosia, along with its academic and research base in Athens (UNIC Athens), signed a five-year Memorandum of Cooperation. This framework aims to utilize research to influence public policy and enhance understanding of citizens' economic conditions.
The core of this collaboration is the expansion of the Financial Wellbeing Index from Cyprus, where it has been implemented by the FWI since 2023, to Greece. The initiative seeks to measure how financially secure individuals feel, their resilience to economic shocks, and their levels of financial stress. By adapting the existing methodology to the Greek context, the project aims to gather representative data that remains comparable to the findings in Cyprus, ultimately fostering a more systematic regional analysis of financial stability.
This partnership represents a strategic effort to provide evidence-based insights that can be integrated into national policy-making. By creating a standardized set of metrics across both nations, researchers intend to build a robust foundation for future studies and public debate concerning the financial welfare of the population.
