Ministry of Education announces inspections of private tutoring centers

The Greek Ministry of Education has announced the commencement of surprise inspections at private tutoring centers and private educational institutions throughout the country. These regulatory checks are scheduled to take place during the 2026-2027 academic year to ensure full compliance with existing legislation, operational regulations, and the terms under which these centers were granted their establishment licenses.

As part of the administrative updates, the Ministry confirmed that Dr. Georgia Neophytou, First Education Officer, assumed the role of Head of the Private Education Sector effective September 1, 2026. The inspections will be conducted by control officers from the Private Education Sector. The primary objectives of these visits include the verification of legal compliance, the updating of institutional records, and the validation of data previously submitted by owners to the Ministry. Any operators found to be in violation of these standards will face formal reporting and potential legal consequences, as the government seeks to maintain quality and legal consistency within the private supplementary education sector.
