Cyprus advances development of Red Flag risk detection platform

The Cypriot Ministry of Justice held a multi-stakeholder meeting on Monday to finalize the design and operational structure of the 'Red Flag' platform. Chaired by Minister Costas Fytiris, the initiative aims to facilitate the early identification of high-risk incidents and ensure immediate, coordinated responses across various state services. The platform is designed to house specific data, streamline inter-agency communication, and provide essential tools for handling critical reports.

Participants included the Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, the Commissioner for Gender Equality, former 'Voice' president Anastasia Papadopoulou, and representatives from the Police, the Ministry of Education, the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection, and Social Welfare Services. Attendees discussed technical and practical implementation strategies, incorporating feedback from NGOs and various professional organizations to refine the platform’s final configuration.

The project is moving forward according to a strict implementation schedule, with the government aiming for the system to be fully operational by early 2027. Future efforts will focus on integrating the feedback gathered during this latest session to complete the platform's architecture and operational protocols.
