EU goal for all citizens to travel visa-free to the US – Cyprus still awaiting inclusion

The European Union is striving to ensure all member state citizens can travel to the United States without a visa. Currently, Cyprus, Bulgaria, and Romania remain outside the U.S. visa waiver program. To address this, the European Commission reached a framework agreement on July 23, 2026, regarding enhanced border security cooperation, which involves sharing biometric data.
