Zakynthos in advanced talks to sign Amr Warda

Zakynthos, currently sitting at the bottom of the Superbet League 2 standings after securing only one point in the first four matches, is actively seeking to strengthen its squad. The club is in advanced negotiations to sign 33-year-old Egyptian attacking midfielder Amr Warda, aiming to finalize the deal before the transfer window closes on September 29, 2026.

Warda has extensive experience in Greek football, having first arrived in the country in 2015 to play for Panetolikos. Throughout his career in Greece, he has represented several clubs, including PAOK, Atromitos, Volos, Panserraikos, AEL Larissa, and Iraklis, as well as playing in Cyprus for Anorthosis and Apollon. Statistically, he has recorded 98 appearances and 42 goals in the Greek top flight. During the previous season, he played for AEL Larissa and later for Iraklis, where he made nine appearances and provided two assists before becoming a free agent in June 2026.

The acquisition is viewed as a critical move for the club to address its poor start to the season and improve its attacking depth. With the deadline looming, the team is working urgently to complete the necessary documentation to ensure the player is registered in time for upcoming league fixtures.
