Olympiacos secures narrow victory over Zalgiris in Kaunas

Olympiacos extended its perfect start to the Euroleague season with a 93-91 victory against Zalgiris in Kaunas on September 29. The match was decided in the final three minutes, with crucial shots from Fournier and Vezenkov securing the win for the Greek side, who now hold a 2-0 record. Top performers for Olympiacos included Fournier with 19 points, Vezenkov with 16 points and 8 rebounds, and Montero with 15 points. Zalgiris, now at 1-1, saw Sterling Brown score 20 points, while Tubelis added 19.

The team traveled to Lithuania shortly after winning the Stoiximan Super Cup final against PAOK (101-96). Head coach Giorgos Bartzokas confirmed that center Nikola Milutinov did not accompany the squad due to ongoing tendonitis, which also kept him out of the Super Cup. The team is managing his absence with other rotations, including Bryant Dunston.

Olympiacos continues its busy schedule with an upcoming Euroleague road game against Virtus Bologna in Italy on October 1, followed by their domestic league premiere against Iraklis in Thessaloniki on October 4. Zalgiris is scheduled to face Paris in France on October 1.
