Nicosia municipality launches dog adoption initiative

On September 29, 2026, the Mayor of Nicosia, Charalambos Prountzos, announced a new subsidy programme aimed at finding permanent homes for 35 dogs. These animals are currently housed at a temporary shelter facility jointly managed by the municipalities of Nicosia, Strovolos, and Lakatamia.

As part of this initiative, the municipality will fully cover the adoption package for all 35 dogs. Each animal will be handed over to its new guardian fully sterilized and with updated health records. This effort is intended to provide the animals with a second chance at finding a family and a stable living environment.
