16-year-old football player dies after injury on Thasos

A 16-year-old football player named Gjana Allan has died following a fatal injury sustained during a youth match on the island of Thasos. The incident occurred on Sunday, September 27, 2026, during the second minute of a game between Vyronas Kavalas B team and Aiantas Panagias Prinou. While challenging for the ball near the sideline, the teenager lost his balance and struck the back of his head against the stadium's perimeter fencing. He immediately lost consciousness and was transported to the Intensive Care Unit at Kavala Hospital, where he passed away on the morning of Tuesday, September 29.
