Cyprus observes World Heart Day with national awareness campaign
On September 29, Cyprus commemorates World Heart Day with a comprehensive information, awareness, and education campaign organized by the Cyprus Society of Cardiology (CSC). The initiative, titled 'Don’t miss the pulse of life. Live to its rhythm,' aims to emphasize the critical importance of preventive checkups and the early management of cardiovascular risk factors, such as high blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels, which often progress without symptoms.
The campaign is supported by the Ministry of Health, the Pancyprian Medical Association, and is sponsored by Medochemie. The launch was announced by Health Minister Neophytos Charalambides, CSC President Dr. Evagoras Economides, and Pancyprian Medical Association President Dr. Petros Agathangelou. As a symbolic gesture of the campaign, various landmarks will be illuminated in red on the evening of September 29, including the Old Nicosia City Hall, the THALASSA Municipal Museum in Ayia Napa, and fountains in Larnaca’s Salina Park and Europe Square.
This year's focus is on promoting regular physical activity and proactive health management. The movement seeks to educate the public on managing long-term health risks before serious symptoms emerge, encouraging citizens to prioritize cardiovascular wellness as a daily standard.
