Timeline announced for local elections in occupied areas of Cyprus

The Supreme Election Council in the occupied areas of Cyprus has officially announced the timeline for local elections scheduled for December 6. The formal election process is set to commence on October 7, with political parties required to finalize their candidate selections by October 27. Applications for candidacy are to be submitted on October 30, followed by a provisional announcement of candidates the next day.

Electoral rolls will be posted for public review starting November 1 for a duration of seven days. The finalization of candidacies and a draw to determine the ballot order for parties and independent candidates are scheduled for November 8. The definitive lists will be published on November 9 following a public draw. Furthermore, political parties have until November 15 to request campaign airtime on the Bayrak broadcast service. The election campaign period itself will run from November 10 until December 5, preceding the voting day.
