PSI Foundation launches satellite video art exhibition in Nicosia

The PSI Foundation is debuting in Nicosia with a satellite exhibition titled "Objects in the mirror may be closer than they appear," running from 2 October to 2 November 2026. Designed to integrate video art into the city's daily life, the project shifts away from traditional gallery settings to utilize the unique landscape of Nicosia’s Old City.

Curated by Evagoria Dapola, the exhibition features 14 works by nine artists distributed across a network of spaces along three streets in the Old City. Visitors can engage with projections and moving images displayed in diverse locations, including artists’ studios, architecture offices, former workshops, shopfronts, walls, and local cafés. The route begins at The Gym Bar on Onasagorou Street, encouraging participants to explore the urban environment as a living exhibition space.

The title draws inspiration from the safety warning found on automotive mirrors, serving as a conceptual framework to explore themes of distance and perspective. By repurposing everyday urban infrastructure, the project aims to facilitate spontaneous encounters between the public, the city, and contemporary moving image art, transforming familiar settings into dynamic venues for cultural expression.
