Cyprus hosts four traditional festivals on October 1

On October 1, 2026, Cyprus will host four distinct traditional festivals to celebrate the public holiday, offering residents and visitors a chance to explore rural traditions, local gastronomy, and cultural heritage across different villages.

The Fisherman’s Festival at the Xylophagou Fishing Shelter, previously postponed in July, is scheduled from 15:00 to 20:00. Attendees can expect fresh seafood, cooking demonstrations, and insights into net-making and fishing techniques, accompanied by live performances from the band PASPARTOU, traditional dancing, and activities for children. Simultaneously, the 21st Traditional Culture Festival, organized by the Larnaca Rural Women’s Association under the theme “Flavour of the Countryside, Taste of Milk,” will take place in Skarinou from 11:00 to 20:00, showcasing regional crafts and culinary recipes. Additional celebrations are planned in the villages of Pachna, which will focus on traditional palouzes, and Aradippou, which is hosting a traditional festive gathering.

These events serve to promote local tourism and the preservation of Cypriot customs. No further administrative actions or legal follow-ups are required as these are community-driven cultural celebrations intended for public recreation.
