AEL Limassol coach Hugo Martins marks one year at the helm

AEL Limassol head coach Hugo Martins has officially completed one year at the club, having been appointed on September 29, 2025, as the successor to Paolo Tramezzani. The club reached an agreement with Ethnikos Achnas to secure his services. Martins marked the occasion with a social media post expressing gratitude toward the players, administration, and supporters for their collective perseverance through challenging times.

Currently, AEL Limassol occupies a strong position in the Cyprus League by Stoiximan, sitting in second place with nine points from four matches. Despite this positive start, the team is dealing with significant injury setbacks. Key players Hamza Catakovic and Yannick Gomis, who were injured during the season opener against Anorthosis, remain sidelined. Catakovic suffered a torn cruciate ligament, while Gomis sustained a fibula fracture and ankle dislocation.

Looking ahead, AEL Limassol prepares for the resumption of the league. The team is scheduled to face Omonia 29th May at the Alphamega Stadium on October 11, followed by an away match against Omonia Aradippou at the AEK Arena on October 18. The club maintains high expectations for the season, aiming for a top-six finish and success in the cup competition.
