Large drug seizures by authorities in Limassol
On September 29, 2026, members of the Anti-Drug Squad (YKAN) in Limassol conducted two separate operations resulting in significant drug seizures. In the first incident, authorities searched an apartment and discovered 27.5 kilograms of ketamine, alongside 377 grams of cannabis, 776 grams of mephedrone, 269 grams of MDMA, 172 grams of cocaine, and approximately 10,000 euros in cash. The two occupants of the apartment, Israeli nationals aged 23 and 24, were arrested following a physical altercation in which an officer sustained minor injuries.
In a second, unrelated operation on the same day, police intercepted a courier package in Limassol containing 6.3 kilograms of cannabis. This shipment was identified following an intelligence-led investigation, though no arrests have been reported regarding this specific parcel as of yet.
The suspects involved in the apartment raid are scheduled to appear before the District Court of Limassol for a remand hearing. Authorities are actively investigating whether the large ketamine seizure is linked to a previous case involving 390 kilograms of the same substance, which is currently pending before the Permanent Assize Court.
