Two Israeli nationals arrested in Limassol following massive drug seizure
On September 29, 2026, the Cyprus Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) seized over 27.5 kilograms of ketamine along with quantities of cannabis, mephedrone, MDMA, and cocaine from a rented apartment in Limassol. The operation was initiated after the property owner found a suitcase and protein bags containing narcotics while checking the residence after two Israeli tenants, aged 23 and 24, failed to check out at the agreed time. Upon police arrival at the apartment, the two suspects resisted arrest and attacked officers, resulting in minor injuries to one member of the YKAN team. Authorities also confiscated approximately 10,000 euros in cash found on the premises.
The suspects arrived in Cyprus on September 20 and had occupied the apartment in the Amathus area since September 24. On September 30, the Limassol District Court ordered the eight-day detention of both men. Investigators are currently exploring potential links between this case and a recent, larger seizure of nearly 400 kilograms of ketamine, as the suspects remain in custody pending further legal proceedings.
