AEK Larnaca seeks state funding for stadium expansion

AEK Larnaca has formally requested 6 million euros in state funding from the Cyprus Sports Organization (KOA) to upgrade the AEK Arena. The club's expansion project includes the construction of a team museum in the West stand, as well as the installation of a roof and new VIP boxes in the East stand, mirroring existing facilities. Additionally, the plans involve creating a banquet hall.

The Cyprus Sports Organization has reviewed the request and, while maintaining a positive outlook, has decided that further clarifications and detailed documentation regarding the scope and nature of the proposed works are necessary before proceeding. The request follows an earlier announcement made several months ago by AEK president Andros Karapatakis, who outlined the vision for these upgrades during a press conference.

Currently, the proposal is awaiting final approval from the state authorities. The Cyprus Sports Organization is expected to evaluate the additional data provided by the club before making a definitive decision on whether to grant the funding and determining the next steps for the project’s implementation.
