Cyprus national youth football teams update

The Cyprus U-21 national team concluded its away campaign in the UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifiers with a 2-1 defeat against Kosovo in Pristina on September 30, 2026. Despite taking the lead in the 52nd minute through Savvas Kontopoulos, Cyprus conceded a penalty to Berisha in the 69th minute and a second goal to Larim in the 76th minute. The match ended with Cyprus playing with nine men following the dismissals of Angelopoulos in the 78th minute and Zacharias Ioannidis in the 86th minute. The team remains on three points in the group and will face San Marino at home on October 6.

Meanwhile, the Cyprus U-19 team recently played two friendlies in Moldova, losing 2-1 and winning 1-0 with a goal by Maikol Kris Mylonas. The U-19 squad is scheduled to host Malta for two additional friendly matches on October 3 and 5 at the Ethnikos Achnas Stadium, as part of their preparations for upcoming European qualifiers against Armenia and Albania.
