Unexploded explosive device found at telecommunications building in Limassol

Police authorities in Limassol, Cyprus, were placed on alert early Tuesday morning, September 30, 2026, following the discovery of an unexploded improvised explosive device outside a telecommunications company building in the Mesa Geitonia area. At approximately 2:30 a.m., officers responding to reports of suspicious activity identified a high-displacement motorcycle without license plates near the facility. The suspect fled the scene upon police arrival, leading to a pursuit that proved unsuccessful in intercepting the individual.

Upon returning to the site, investigators located a high-power explosive device that had failed to detonate for reasons currently unknown. A police bomb squad was dispatched to the scene, where they successfully neutralized the device. The area remained cordoned off for forensic examination as members of the Limassol Criminal Investigation Department (TAE) continue their inquiries into the incident.
