Two men arrested in Paphos for online banking fraud

On September 29, 2026, police in Paphos arrested two men, aged 29 and 18, following a coordinated operation targeting a digital fraud scheme. The suspects, both from Pakistan, were apprehended while collecting goods ordered online using unauthorized banking credentials. The investigation began after three individuals in Nicosia filed complaints regarding unauthorized transactions made via a mobile application.

Authorities searched the suspects' residence, discovering four mobile phones, two electronic devices, and 14 stolen bank cards. Preliminary findings indicate the suspects systematically harvested electronic data to purchase various items. In addition to the fraud charges, the 29-year-old suspect faces legal action for residing illegally in Cyprus.

The case is being handled by the Nicosia Financial Crime Investigation Unit. The suspects were brought before the Nicosia District Court on Wednesday, where police requested remand orders to facilitate the ongoing investigation into the full extent of the criminal activities and the methods used to obtain the victims' sensitive financial data.
