Cyprus University of Technology and University of Nicosia ranked in THE 2027 global list
The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2027, released in late September 2026, places both the Cyprus University of Technology (TEPAK) and the University of Nicosia (UNIC) in the 501–550 global band. This evaluation includes 2,297 universities worldwide, up from 2,191 in the previous year, with both institutions appearing in the top 24% of the ranked facilities.
TEPAK achieved its highest ranking since 2021, showing improvements in four out of five performance pillars. The institution reported significant progress in the 'Research Environment' sector, along with gains in 'Industry' connections and 'Research Quality,' where it earned a score of 78.2. Meanwhile, UNIC has been recognized as a joint first-place institution among Cypriot universities and joint second among Greek and Cypriot institutions. UNIC also retains the top position for 'Research Quality' within the Greek and Cypriot university cluster and is ranked 153rd among universities in the European Union.
The rankings assess performance across five key areas: Teaching, Research Environment, Research Quality, Industry, and International Outlook. Both universities have highlighted these results as evidence of their continued growth and international competitiveness in higher education and research.
