Cyprus participates in the Connecting Europe Days 2026 conference in Brussels

Cyprus Shipping Deputy Minister Marina Hadjimanolis traveled to Brussels from September 28 to 30 to participate in the 'Connecting Europe Days 2026' event. Invited by the European Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism Apostolos Tzitzikostas, Hadjimanolis engaged in high-level discussions regarding the future of the European maritime sector, focusing on competitiveness, decarbonization, and geopolitical resilience.

During a plenary session titled 'Gateways to Europe and the World: Ports and the Maritime Sector in Transition,' Hadjimanolis held talks with the Irish Minister of State Timmy Dooley. The discussions addressed the implementation of the European Commission’s new maritime and ports strategy, adopted in March, which aims to modernize infrastructure and secure industrial autonomy. This event marks a transition phase for the European Union as it moves from policy formulation to the active deployment of measures designed to maintain maritime leadership amidst global energy and security challenges.
