Cyta CEO George Metzakis joins TechIsland board of directors

George Metzakis, the Chief Executive Officer of the telecommunications organization Cyta, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of TechIsland. The announcement was made on September 30, 2026, by TechIsland chairman Valentinos Polykarpou, who welcomed the addition of Metzakis to the leadership team.

Metzakis brings over 17 years of professional experience in the telecommunications sector across both domestic and international markets. He officially assumed the position of CEO at Cyta in May 2026, following a transition period that began in 2023 when he joined the company as Chief Commercial Officer. Additionally, starting in September 2025, he served as co-Acting CEO, a role that proved vital for the organization's operational continuity during its internal transitions.

Throughout his tenure at Cyta, Metzakis has focused on advancing digital transformation, improving customer experience, and aligning commercial strategies with modern societal needs. His appointment to TechIsland—a prominent association of technology companies in Cyprus—is intended to leverage his extensive expertise in marketing, revenue growth, and sales to further the organization’s goals within the technology ecosystem.
