US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to visit Athens for Strategic Dialogue

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is scheduled to arrive in Athens on the evening of Tuesday, October 6, to lead the American delegation for the sixth Greece-US Strategic Dialogue. The formal dialogue is set to take place on Wednesday, October 7, with his departure scheduled for the morning of October 8.

During his visit, Secretary Rubio is expected to hold high-level meetings with Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. While the final agenda remains under preparation, discussions will prioritize defense cooperation, energy security, and regional developments in the Eastern Mediterranean. The Great Sea Interconnector project is also anticipated to be a subject of conversation during the sessions.

The Greece-US Strategic Dialogue serves as the primary institutional framework for bilateral relations, encompassing topics such as trade, investment, counterterrorism, and humanitarian aid. The visit follows previous expressions of interest by Secretary Rubio in February to engage in these discussions, reinforcing the long-standing cooperation between the two nations regarding regional stability and infrastructure projects.
