New racing wheelchair donated to 365 Dream Team in Paphos

A new specialized racing wheelchair has been donated to the 365 Dream Team in Paphos, Cyprus, as part of an initiative led by the 365 Foundation to promote accessible sports. The 365 Dream Team, which is composed entirely of people with disabilities and supported by volunteer runners from across the country, will use the equipment to enhance participation in local road racing events.

The purchase was made possible through a collaborative effort involving TUI Cyprus Marathon, Round Table 7 Paphos, and the Joanna Sophia Foundation based in New York. This marks the first wheelchair of its kind to be acquired and stationed in Paphos, providing significant infrastructure for inclusive athletic activities in the district. The equipment will be housed at the School of Tourism, Hospitality and Entrepreneurship at the Cyprus University of Technology, an institution that supported the project.

This initiative highlights the growing emphasis on accessible sports in Cyprus, fostering community integration between disabled athletes and non-disabled volunteers. By centralizing the equipment in Paphos, organizers aim to lower barriers to entry for athletes with disabilities, allowing them to participate more frequently in marathons and running competitions throughout the region.
