UNFICYP marks 32 years of Argentine-led aviation unit in Cyprus

On Wednesday, the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) held commemorative events to mark the 32nd anniversary of its aviation unit, which operates under the authority of the Argentine contingent.

The ceremony was attended by high-ranking officials, including the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Head of UNFICYP, Colin Stewart, and the Force Commander, Lieutenant General Mohammad Asadullah Minhajul Alam. During the event, the mission acknowledged the professionalism and adaptability of the Argentine peacekeepers, noting their extensive experience gained in diverse global environments ranging from the Antarctic and Patagonia to northern Argentina. UNFICYP publicly expressed its gratitude for the unit's ongoing commitment to maintaining peace on the island.
