Cyprus Deputy Ministry of Tourism outlines strategy for 2027

Cyprus Deputy Minister of Tourism Kostas Koumis highlighted the opening of the Kazakhstan market as a significant milestone for 2026 during a World Population Day event at the Ayia Napa Marina. The event, held under the auspices of President Nikos Christodoulides, also included an awards ceremony for excellence in the hospitality sector.

Koumis described 2026 as a year of unprecedented tourism crisis that halted the industry's consistent growth from the previous three years. In response to regional geopolitical tensions that caused market losses, the government implemented initiatives to restore Cyprus's reputation as a safe and accessible destination. Strengthening existing partnerships and diversifying target markets remain core priorities for the ministry.

Looking toward 2027, the Deputy Ministry aims to attract a significant number of Spanish tourists and revitalize markets impacted by the recent regional instability. Efforts to build on these foundations are expected to be the primary focus of the government's tourism policy moving forward.
