Dimitris Kolovos reveals failed Omonia Nicosia medical examination

Greek midfielder Dimitris Kolovos has revealed that his transfer to Omonia Nicosia was nearly cancelled after he failed his medical and ergometric tests upon his arrival in Cyprus. Speaking on the ninth episode of Aris Soiledis's series "When the Lights Go Out," Kolovos explained that he was in poor physical condition at the time, having played very few matches during a six-month stint at Willem II where he suffered from recurring injuries.

Kolovos disclosed that his test results indicated he lacked the endurance to play even 30 minutes of football, which led club officials to initially reject the signing. However, the manager at the time, Giannis Anastasiou, decided to take personal responsibility for the player and insisted that the transfer proceed. Kolovos credited this intervention as a pivotal moment in his career, noting that his subsequent tenure with the Cypriot club was instrumental in his eventual return to the Greek national team.
