Recent series of road traffic accidents in Cyprus
Cyprus has experienced a series of road traffic accidents recently. On October 1, 2026, a 54-year-old British tourist and his 49-year-old female passenger, also British, were involved in a motorcycle crash on the Cape Greco-Protaras avenue. The 54-year-old suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage and multiple fractures, leading to his intubation and transfer to Nicosia General Hospital in critical condition, while the woman was hospitalized in Famagusta with a fractured tibia.
On October 2, several accidents occurred on the highways, including a single-vehicle crash near the Kantou exit on the Limassol-Paphos motorway involving five family members, four of whom were taken to the hospital as a precaution. Another incident on the Nicosia-Limassol motorway near Kornos resulted in material damage only after a car hit the central barrier.
Tragedy struck on the evening of October 3 in Anthoupoli, Nicosia, where 67-year-old Fotini Paschali died after her car struck a boundary wall. Authorities reported she was not wearing a seatbelt and required extraction by the fire service. She was pronounced dead upon arrival at Nicosia General Hospital. Traffic police are investigating the circumstances of all mentioned incidents.
