Series of road accidents in Cyprus results in one fatality and multiple injuries
Between October 1 and October 3, 2026, Cyprus experienced several road accidents across the island. On September 30, a 54-year-old British tourist and his 49-year-old passenger were involved in a serious motorcycle crash on the Cape Greco-Protaras Avenue. The man remains in critical condition in the intensive care unit of Nicosia General Hospital with a subarachnoid hemorrhage and multiple fractures, while the woman suffered a fractured tibia.
On October 2, a single-vehicle accident occurred on the Limassol–Paphos motorway near the Kantou exit, where four family members were transported to the hospital as a precaution. On the same day, a separate collision on the Nicosia–Limassol motorway near Kornos caused traffic disruption but resulted only in material damage. Finally, on the evening of October 3, 67-year-old Fotini Paschali died after her car veered off Sporadon Street in Lakatamia and struck a perimeter wall. Police reports state she was not wearing a seatbelt and required extrication by the fire department before being pronounced dead at Nicosia General Hospital.
Authorities are actively investigating all incidents, including potential factors such as driving speed in the Protaras motorcycle accident and the circumstances surrounding the fatal Lakatamia crash.
