Cyprus government increases benefits for mountain communities for 2026
The Cyprus Council of Ministers approved an increase in the subsidy plan for residents of mountain communities for 2026 during its meeting on September 30, 2026. This measure is part of a broader government effort to combat inflationary pressures and support the development and revitalization of remote regions.
Under the revised plan, the total budget for the subsidies will increase from €9 million to approximately €10.4 million. Specifically, the additional support for every retiree and non-retiree member of a household is raised from €165 to €200. The updated scheme will benefit approximately 10,500 households and 24,000 individual beneficiaries.
The government clarified that the application period for the 2026 benefits has already concluded, and no new applications will be accepted. Beneficiaries who have already submitted their requests will receive the adjusted, higher amounts automatically without the need for further action.
