Stefanos Tsitsipas eliminated in the round of 16 at the Japan Open
Greek tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas, ranked 44th, concluded his campaign at the Japan Open in Tokyo after falling to Valentin Vacherot in the round of 16. Having successfully navigated two qualifying matches, Tsitsipas initially defeated Tomas Martin Etcheverry in the first round with a score of 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in a match lasting two hours and ten minutes.
In the subsequent match against Vacherot, ranked 18th, Tsitsipas took the first set 6-4 and held a match point in the second. However, Vacherot forced a tie-break which he won 7-6(5), before securing an early break in the decisive third set to claim a 6-4 victory. The contest lasted two hours and 13 minutes. Following this exit, the 28-year-old athlete is now shifting his focus toward the Shanghai Masters tournament, scheduled to take place between October 7 and October 18.
