European Union opens applications for the DiscoverEU travel program
The European Commission has officially opened the application process for the DiscoverEU program, which provides travel passes to 18-year-olds residing in EU member states or countries associated with the Erasmus+ scheme. Applications must be submitted through the designated portal by October 15, 2026, at 13:00 Cyprus time. Participants may apply individually or as part of a group of friends to travel together.
Selected candidates will receive a travel pass primarily for rail transport, though other modes are permitted in specific circumstances. The travel window spans from March 1, 2027, to May 31, 2028, allowing beneficiaries to travel for up to seven days within a one-month period. Additionally, winners will be issued a DiscoverEU discount card, offering reduced rates on accommodation, culture, sports, and local transportation. The program also provides specific support for young people with disabilities or health-related issues to ensure inclusive travel opportunities.
