Cypriot police conduct multiple arrests following European arrest warrants and local investigations
Cypriot authorities have carried out several significant arrests in recent days involving both international and local criminal cases. On October 1, 2026, a 29-year-old man was arrested in Nicosia based on a European Arrest Warrant issued by Dutch authorities for his alleged involvement in human trafficking and participation in a criminal organization. He remains in custody pending extradition proceedings at the Nicosia District Court.
In a separate case involving a 44-year-old man, authorities arrested the suspect at Larnaca Airport on October 2, 2026, after he was located in another European country. He is wanted for five burglaries and thefts that occurred in the Limassol district between 2010 and 2013. The Limassol District Court is handling the remand proceedings as the investigation continues.
Furthermore, Larnaca police arrested a 38-year-old woman and a 52-year-old man on October 3, 2026, in connection with recent thefts of wallets from residences and the unauthorized use of credit cards belonging to two elderly victims in July and October 2026. The suspects are currently undergoing interrogation as part of broader efforts to combat property-related crimes in the region.
