Cyprus police arrest 29-year-old man on Dutch arrest warrant
Cypriot authorities arrested a 29-year-old man in Nicosia on October 1, 2026, acting on a European Arrest Warrant issued by the Netherlands. The suspect is wanted by Dutch law enforcement for alleged human trafficking and participation in a criminal organization.
Following his arrest, the individual was taken into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Nicosia District Court. This court appearance will serve as the formal commencement of extradition proceedings to transfer the suspect to the Netherlands to face the charges. The Nicosia Criminal Investigation Department (TAE Nicosia) is currently overseeing the case and continuing the necessary legal inquiries.
Note: While multiple reports cover this arrest, an unrelated incident involving a 44-year-old man arrested at Larnaca Airport regarding burglaries committed between 2010 and 2013 was also reported in local media during the same period, but that case is distinct from the human trafficking investigation.
