Woman and partner critically injured in stabbing attack in Lavrio
A 32-year-old Romanian man is in custody following a violent attack on his 32-year-old ex-partner and her 33-year-old companion in Lavrio, Greece. The incident occurred shortly after midnight on October 2, 2026. The perpetrator, who reportedly planned the attack by accessing a neighboring property to use a ladder, shattered a balcony door with a sledgehammer to enter the residence. He then proceeded to stab both victims in the presence of two young children, aged 1.5 and 2.5 years, whom he shared with the woman.
The 32-year-old woman sustained multiple injuries, including wounds to her back and lung, and was transferred to the Evangelismos Hospital. Her 33-year-old partner, who suffered severe injuries to his collarbone, ribs, and genitals, remains in critical condition at the Asklipieio Hospital in Voula. Following the attack, the perpetrator turned himself in at the Lavreotiki police station.
Investigation into the case revealed that the victim had previously filed five complaints against the perpetrator between November 2025 and September 2026, four of which were for domestic violence. Despite having access to a 'Panic Button' app provided by the police, there was no record of its use during this incident. The investigation is ongoing as authorities process the charges against the suspect.
