Christos Tzolis ruled out of Greece vs. Germany match due to injury
Greek national team forward Christos Tzolis has been ruled out of the upcoming UEFA Nations League match against Germany on October 4, 2026. The 24-year-old Arsenal player suffered a muscle tear in his right hamstring during the first half of the match against the Netherlands on October 1, 2026, which ended in a 2-2 draw. Before his injury, Tzolis had scored a goal in the 13th minute, though it was disallowed due to an offside decision involving teammate Vangelis Pavlidis.
Following the match, medical examinations confirmed the severity of the injury, requiring a recovery period estimated at two to three weeks. Consequently, Tzolis has departed the Greek national team training camp and is returning to London to undergo rehabilitation with his club. His absence is expected to impact his availability for Arsenal matches throughout October.
In response to the vacancy, Greece head coach Ivan Jovanovic has called up PAOK midfielder Dimitris Pelkas to the squad for the encounter against Germany at the Toumba Stadium. This marks a return for the 32-year-old Pelkas, who had not featured for the national side since September 2025.
