Reservoir water levels rise in Larnaca and Famagusta districts
The Water Development Department of Cyprus reported on October 2, 2026, that water levels in all four reservoirs across the Larnaca and Famagusta districts have increased compared to the same period in 2025. Data collected as of September 30 indicates a general upward trend in storage capacity across the region.
Specific statistics highlight the Kalavasos reservoir is at 21.8 per cent capacity with 3.734 million cubic metres of water, compared to 12.9 per cent last year. The Lefkara reservoir is at 17.3 per cent (up from 14.8 per cent) with 2.402 million cubic metres, while the Dipotamos reservoir reached 25.9 per cent (up from 22.9 per cent) with 4.017 million cubic metres. The Achna reservoir, which remains the least full, shows a marked improvement at 5.6 per cent compared to 2.3 per cent during the same period last year, holding 0.380 million cubic metres.
These figures follow total inflow data recorded since October 1, 2025, which provides the necessary context for the current water security status in these agricultural and residential districts. The government continues to monitor these levels as part of national water resource management.
