On October 2, 2026, officials in Nicosia unveiled the winning architectural design for a new Day Center for individuals on the autism spectrum. The project, which has a budget of €2 million and is funded by Eurobank, aims to provide essential support for people with severe autism, their families, and care professionals. The presentation ceremony was attended by President Nikos Christodoulides, Deputy Minister of Social Welfare Tina Pavlou, and Eurobank Group CEO Fokion Karavias.
The competition attracted 37 architectural firms, with the first prize awarded to the team of Chrysostomos Theodoropoulos, Eleni Livani, and Panagiota Karamanea. The new facility will be constructed on state-owned land in the Agios Dimitrios parish of the Strovolos municipality. It is designed to cover an area of approximately 740 square meters and will have the capacity to support up to 30 individuals.
President Christodoulides emphasized that the center addresses an urgent social need by providing better infrastructure for care. The winning and other distinguished designs will be on public display at the Anastasios G. Leventis building of the University of Cyprus from October 2 to October 7, 2026.
