The Limassol Criminal Court continues to hear proceedings regarding the murder of 45-year-old Yiannis Argyrou, who was killed in his apartment complex garage in the early hours of May 4, 2025. The victim suffered 19 stab wounds. A 52-year-old man stands accused of the crime, specifically facing a charge of premeditated murder, to which he has pleaded not guilty.
During the October 2, 2026, hearing, testimony was provided by an employee of a café owned by a relative of the accused. The witness reported that the suspect appeared agitated, was sweating profusely, and made cryptic remarks regarding his "honor and dignity," as well as comments suggesting he anticipated imprisonment regardless of his actions. Additionally, the head of the Cyprus Forensic Service, Dr. Angeliki Papetta, testified that the defendant had refused to consent to a forensic medical examination. The prosecution’s case is nearing completion, with the court expecting to hear testimony from the defendant's 47-year-old former partner in upcoming sessions.
