Lightning strike causes minor forest fire in Agios Epifanios Soleas

A small fire broke out on Friday, October 2, 2026, in the Pyrkolofos area, located within the abandoned community of Agios Epifanios Soleas in the Nicosia district. The incident was triggered by a lightning strike that ignited a single tree in the area.

The Department of Forests reported that the fire started at approximately 13:30. A firefighting team consisting of three personnel and one fire engine responded immediately to the location. Due to their rapid intervention, the fire was successfully contained and brought under full control by 14:00, preventing any further spread to the surrounding forest area.

No significant damage was reported beyond the single tree that caught fire during the event.
