Authorities search residence of late singer Giorgos Mazonakis
Greek authorities conducted a search at the residence of the late singer Giorgos Mazonakis following an official order from an investigative magistrate. The operation took place in the presence of his mother, while his sisters were at the office of their attorney, Charalambos Lykoudis. This development is part of an ongoing criminal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death, which occurred on September 9 following a cardiac arrest at a medical clinic on Karneadou Street.
Earlier this week, the Athens Misdemeanors Council authorized the lifting of telecommunication privacy for six mobile devices, a hard drive, and a USB stick. These items, seized from the clinic, belong to Mazonakis, two incarcerated doctors—Ilias Theodoropoulos and Ioanna Gaka—two secretaries, and a nurse. The investigation is currently gathering testimonies from medical staff present during the incident, including a nurse, an anesthesiologist who was contacted regarding an antidote for propofol, and a responding paramedic. Witness reports suggest the staff at the clinic were significantly distressed while attempting to treat the singer during the medical emergency.
Legal proceedings are active as authorities continue to analyze the seized digital evidence to reconstruct the events that led to the singer's passing while under the care of the accused physicians.
