Ancoria Bank ownership transfer notification filed with competition commission
On October 2, 2026, the Cyprus Commission for the Protection of Competition announced that it had received a notification regarding the acquisition of share capital in Ancoria Bank by Bastiodon Holdings Limited. The acquiring entity, Bastiodon Holdings, is a Cyprus-registered company established specifically to facilitate this transaction.
Ancoria Bank, which manages customer deposits exceeding €817 million, has been undergoing a structural change since March 2025, when existing shareholders reached a preliminary agreement on the sale of the parent company's shares. Under the terms of the proposed acquisition, minority shareholders are set to gain a majority stake, while the current beneficial owner will transition to a minority position. Bastiodon Holdings was already involved in the bank's structure, holding a 4.90% stake in the parent entity, Ancoria Investments Plc, at the close of 2025.
The transaction is currently under regulatory review by the competition authorities to ensure compliance with market standards. No further details regarding the final timeline for the acquisition's closure or additional financial terms have been disclosed by the regulators at this stage.
