Minister of interior emphasizes rural development and community support

On October 2, 2026, Minister of Interior Constantinos Ioannou visited the Pakhna community to attend the traditional Palouze Festival. During his address, he reaffirmed the Christodoulides government's commitment to prioritizing rural support, focusing on infrastructure upgrades, the preservation of local traditions, and the implementation of housing incentives designed to help young people remain and work in their native communities.

Following his visit, on October 3, 2026, the Minister held separate meetings with local leaders from Nikitari, Kannavia, Agia Eirini, and Xyliatos. The discussions focused on infrastructure, road networks, and development projects. Minister Ioannou urged the community council presidents to collaborate with the Nicosia District Administration to prioritize and mature these projects. The government is currently evaluating state financial support to ensure these initiatives are effectively planned and implemented to improve the quality of life for residents in these areas.
