Unstable weather conditions to affect Cyprus until Tuesday
An unstable air mass is currently affecting the region, bringing rainfall and localized thunderstorms across Cyprus that are expected to persist until Tuesday. As of October 3, 2026, intense weather activity has been recorded in the Paphos district, particularly in the areas of Polis Chrysochous, Pyrgos Tillyrias, and Akamas. Meteorologists report that while the country is experiencing rain and electrical activity, the extreme weather phenomena seen recently in Crete will not impact the island. Daytime temperatures are forecast to reach 27 degrees Celsius in inland and coastal areas, while dropping to between 7 and 15 degrees Celsius in the mountains depending on the time of day.
Authorities advise the public to remain vigilant as scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue, moving toward mountain and interior regions by the afternoon. Heavy rain has been welcomed by local farmers and officials in Paphos as a positive development for the district’s water balance, which suffered from shortages in the previous year. While stormy conditions are predicted, the Meteorological Service does not expect a significant worsening of the situation, though hail and strong winds of 3 to 4 Beaufort remain possible during active storm cells.
