Conservation work completed on historic religious sites in Cyprus
Conservation works have been successfully concluded at the mosque in Koilani, Limassol district, and the Church of Ayia Paraskevi in Palaiosofos, Kyrenia. Sotos Ktoris, co-chair of the Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage, announced the completion of these projects, emphasizing that the restoration of the Koilani mosque—one of the oldest in the Limassol district—aims to foster trust and bridge the past with the future of Cyprus.
The initiatives were funded by the European Union and carried out under the technical guidance of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). In addition to these completions, Ktoris announced the commencement of new conservation works at the Church of Ayia Irene in the Kyrenia district. These efforts are part of a broader ongoing mission to preserve the island's diverse cultural heritage through international cooperation and professional technical oversight.
